  The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is rolling out a big change in line with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 — board exams for Classes 10 and 12 will now be held twice a year starting from the 2025-26 session . The first exam will be mandatory and conducted in February–March, while the second, optional exam will be held in May, giving students the chance to improve their scores in up to three subjects. Internal assessments, however, will still be conducted only once. This new system is designed to reduce exam pressure, promote continuous learning, and ensure fairer evaluation. Parents and teachers also gain more flexibility in planning and supporting students throughout the year.
